Mastering The GLock

Posted by val in Counter-Strike

The 9mm companion to Terrorists in the world of CS. This $400 pistol is the default weapon for the Ts, it's chambered for a 9x19mm round and has a 20 round magazine.

The Basics: The Glock basically doesn't have recoil. Well, let me be more specific, it has so little recoil that your aiming isn't easily affected. That is one of the advantages of the Glock over other pistols.

Strategies: We all know how weak this gun is, so if you wish to get some kills with this baby you are gonna have to change your thinking. I'm sure you've heard of camp, pick and kill to surprise your enemy, and to some extent, that is what I'm getting at. It's true that picking your enemy is key to your success with the glock, but camping sometimes isn't. With the Glock, you must come to your enemy, not let them come to you; but the trick is, not letting your enemy see you first. You must try to be behind your enemy. Unlike a fully automatic rifle, you don't have the luxury of superior firepower. So getting behind the enemy is very good way to achieve success. By the time they turn around, you have already emptied half your magazine into them and you're ready to finish off your victim.

Importance of Sound Sense

Posted by val in Counter-Strike

In Counter-Strike, sound is probably one of the most important things the game has to offer. There has been enough talking on the weapons, when and how to use them. Now I feel its time to talk about the importance of sound in the game. In my opinion the sound in CS is great.

You may have come across people mentioning "no sound" besides their nick. Its just the way to convey others that incase I goof up, u know I don't have sound. Often when we are dead in the game and when we spec others the minute the player goofs up in judging where the enemies are running for, the first question we ask them. "Dude! Do you have sound sense.???So in spite of knowing how to use the gun, I feel having sound sense is also equally important in the game. This is one of the biggest qualities in a Pro. All gud players judge exactly where the enemy is coming from. One of the reasons why people accuse you of hacking (specially in pub servers) is that because, you have good sound sense and they don't. Pro players know an enemy is coming their way even before spotting them so they set their position to hunt him down. While the noobs who spectate him (who doesn't have gud sound sense) accuse him of hacking.  In CS although the gun/grenade/radio sounds may make your blood pump faster, there is nothing like the sound of silence interrupted by a quick foot step or a clunky ladder to make your mouse grip tighten and your trigger finger a little more uneasy. I've seen many people killed because they were running around big clumpy boots making loads of noise and then *Boom* they're dead.Sound plays a very important role especially in a one on one situation when the bomb is planted and the T- guy is waiting for the CT to defusing and then he can easily pin him down. In this case I would suggest the CT guy if you doing a fake defusal so that the T could peep out and you would have a shot at him. Don't even make a slightest of sound after pressing the "E" button to defuse cause if you make sound after the fake defusal, T knows you aren't defusing so he will continue hiding.I remember initially when I started playing clan online, I would rush all the time inviting the enemies to easily locate my position and hunt me down to get "muftis". Due to such instances you get the tag as "Noob". So if you wanna become a pro make it a point to have a good sense of sound and also not to make sound when you are in a situation when u are alone and the enemies are more. I realized the importance of sound when I was specing a pro who had planted the c4@ a site in Inferno and was waiting for the ct to come. It was a one on one situation, the CT made all the noise in the world. He located the t who was behind the crates which were in the middle of the site. Since the CT was making ample of noise, The T was playing meri go round with him which finally resulted in "Boom". It was fun to watch the round but then I also understood the importance of sound from that time.So make it a point to develop good sense of sound and which will automatically improve your overall gaming sense.
