Interview with Mind from WeMade FOX

Posted by Noname in Untagged

Thought I'd drop a post here about the next interview from the WeInterviewedFOX series. This time the spotlight is on Mind from the StarCraft team. His stellar performance in the MSL 2 years back earned him the youngest StarLeague winner record.

He is well known for his Terran play and macro style in StarCraft. I've also tried something different with this interview.

Here's a snippet from page 1:

Interview with NaDa from WeMadeFOX

Posted by Noname in Untagged

I completed an interview with NaDa, a famous pro-gamer from StarCraft, thought I'd post a link here.

It's part of my WeInterviewFOX series so there will be additional interviews with their WC3 squad & CS squad.

Am not sure how many on this website are acquainted with NaDa but this interview should give a complete view on the pro-gamer and the real person behind it all.

Death of ESWC.

Posted by ShamRock in Untagged

Electronic Sports World Cup or ESWC the popular international Gaming tournament has been shut down. This is because of it's parent company applying for Liquidation i.e. it went broke.

The chairman of ESWC Matthieu Dallon had spoken about these problems in the last open public letter. The contents of the letter were as follows:

"None of the past ESWC partners has yet renewed its support for 2009, except for the institutional subsidies of Ile-de-France. No new partner is ready to commit on financial support of events operations in 2009. "

Mastering The GLock

Posted by val in Counter-Strike

The 9mm companion to Terrorists in the world of CS. This $400 pistol is the default weapon for the Ts, it's chambered for a 9x19mm round and has a 20 round magazine.

The Basics: The Glock basically doesn't have recoil. Well, let me be more specific, it has so little recoil that your aiming isn't easily affected. That is one of the advantages of the Glock over other pistols.

Strategies: We all know how weak this gun is, so if you wish to get some kills with this baby you are gonna have to change your thinking. I'm sure you've heard of camp, pick and kill to surprise your enemy, and to some extent, that is what I'm getting at. It's true that picking your enemy is key to your success with the glock, but camping sometimes isn't. With the Glock, you must come to your enemy, not let them come to you; but the trick is, not letting your enemy see you first. You must try to be behind your enemy. Unlike a fully automatic rifle, you don't have the luxury of superior firepower. So getting behind the enemy is very good way to achieve success. By the time they turn around, you have already emptied half your magazine into them and you're ready to finish off your victim.

DOTA Pro Guidance

Posted by -Hunt- in Untagged

Introduction to Dota What is DotA Allstars? DotA Allstars is a WarCraft 3 UMS (Use map settings). The game begins with choosing a hero from either the Sentinel or the Scourge. From there you attack the other teams base alongside your team's "creeps" which spawn periodically. The objective of the game is to destroy the opposing teams world tree which is protected by towers.

Heroes Heroes are the driving force of DotA Allstars. A hero can attack, use skills, and revive after death. At the beginning of each game, a player is allowed to select or random one hero to use in the game from the taverns on either corner of the map. The taverns and heroes that can be selected depend on the game mode chosen by the host. As the game progresses, heroes gain experience from the death of enemy units, and can level up when certain threshold experience values are reached. Because additional levels grant extra attributes and skills, hero leveling is one of the core aspects to any game.

Skills Each hero has 4 learnable skills: 3 basic skills and 1 ultimate. With the exception of the Invoker, there are 4 levels for each basic skill, 3 levels of ultimate, and 10 levels of Attribute bonuses, which grant +2 to each stat, for a total of 25 skill levels. Each hero has a unique skill set, with an enormous diversity of effects, from mobility to nukes to auras to disables, the endless combinations of which make DotA the rich strategic game that it is today.

Death When a hero dies to any unit on the enemy team, all enemy heroes in the area gain experience, while the killer receives bonus gold and adds to his/her streak. If the Scourge or Sentinel kill a hero, the bonus gold is divided between all the heroes on that team. If the hero dies to a neutral creep or is denied by a friendly hero, no experience or bonus gold is given to the enemy team. A dead hero will revive after a period of time equal to his level multiplied by 4 seconds. Gold is also lost upon death, equal to his level multiplied by 30 gold.

Online Games Blog We Just Played Demigod, and Chatted With Chris Taylor

Posted by nooble2 in Untagged

We just finished playing Demigod, the upcoming downloadable online strategy game from developer Gas Powered Games, creator of Supreme Commander and Dungeon Siege. Like League of Legends: Clash of Fates, Demigod will draw inspiration from the Defense of the Ancients mod for Warcraft III. Demigod apparently has a story somewhere about being a divine being waging some kind of holy war, but cutting to the chase, it's really more of an excuse to take control of a single, powerful real-time strategy "hero" unit and stomp all over the battlefield, beating up other little real-time strategy units and other, slightly-larger heroes who have their own powers.

Welcome to Demigod, where your hauberk armor and healing spells will make all the difference. (Unless you suck at the game.)

Demigod lets you play as one of two types of characters, an "assassin" and a "general." The assassin characters are generally a bit more straightforward, since they're devoted to sallying forth and pounding on enemy structures, enemy cannon fodder, and enemy heroes. Both types of characters start their lives on any given map next to a friendly health-and-magic-power-regenerating tower and a shop where they can purchase wearable armor and consumable items such as healing potions and teleportation scrolls. But generals can also purchase up to three different types of additional cannon fodder units that they can summon into battle; these units appear in small clusters after a brief "spell-casting" delay and will automatically attack the nearest enemies. Like in DOTA, Demigod has plenty of cannon fodder units; either the ones that general characters summon, or those that pour out of generators on either team's side, and like in DOTA, none of these units is under your direct control.
